Biological-Based Produced Water Treatment Using Microalgae: Challenges and Efficiency

نویسندگان

چکیده

Produced water (PW) is the most significant waste stream generated in oil and gas industries. The PW has potential to be a useful source rather than waste. While variety of technologies can used for treatment reuse, biological-based are an effective sustainable remediation method. Specifically, microalgae, which cost-effective process that use nutrients eliminate organic pollutants from during bioremediation process. In these processes, microalgae grow free charge, pollutants, generate clean recycled reused. This helps reduce CO2 levels atmosphere while simultaneously producing biofuels, other chemicals, added-value products. As such, this review focuses on generation industry, characteristics, examines available remediation, with specific attention algal-based technologies. addition, various aspects algae growth cultivation PW, effect conditions, quality parameters, corresponding performance presented. Lastly, emphasizes using highlights how harvest processed biofuels products as approach.

Cadmium contamination of drinking water and its treatment using biological chelators

Background: Cadmium (Cd) is an extremely toxic metal and environmental exposure to Cd has been particularly problematic in the world. Oral exposure to Cd may result in adverse effects on a number of tissues, the immune system, and the cardiovascular system. Compounds containing Cd are also carcinogenic. The presence of Cd in drinking water resources in the southeastern region of Rafsanjan plain...

Anaerobic Treatment of Produced Water

An experimental study of anaerobic treatment was performed by hybrid upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (HUASB) reactor to treat produced water (PW) of an onshore crude oil terminal (COD: 1597 mg/L, NH3-N: 14.7 mg/L, phenol: 13.8 mg/L, BOD5: 862 mg/L, sodium: 6240 mg/L and chloride 9530 mg/L). The produced water with high salinity and other toxic substances will inhibit the methanogens performance...

Advanced Treatment of Meat Processing Wastewaters Using Microalgae

Introduction: Effluents of Meat processing are one of the untreated wastewaters containing high volumes of polluted components even after the primary and secondary treatments. The high cost of using the advanced treatment methods of the wastewaters has led the industry owners to release them in the nature without effective removal of nitrogen and phosphorus. In this study, an economic advanced ...

Evaluation of the Treatment of Pharmaceutical Industry Wastewater Using Chemical and Biological Methods (Case Study: Treatment of Wastewater Produced by Production of Methadone and Capecitabine)

Background & objectives: Pharmaceutical wastewater contains high concentrations of organic matter, high salt and difficult biodegradability, so it must be treated before discharge to the environment. In this study, it is aimed to evaluate the treatment of pharmaceutical wastewater (methadone feedstock and neutralized capecitabine) using chemical and biological methods. Methods: The laboratory ...
